As promised Bijou found herself with Lyfe the next day inside the beautiful Sky Lounge. It was a recently built restaurant that sat inside of a large glass dome in downtown Urban Crest overlooking Lake Michigan. Large glass bulbs hung from the ceiling as R&B serenaded the beautiful space. Equipped with deep red carpeting, ivory suede chairs, and gold tables the restaurant was perfect for lovers.

Across from Lyfe, Bijou wore her Emilio Pucci inspired pink swirl print leggings with a white silk shirt that hung off her shoulders and pink heeled sandals. Her hair was flirty and wavy as it was pulled up in the front and hung down the back. Her eyes couldn’t stop staring at Lyfe who was sitting across from her sauced up like usual in his cream Gucci crew neck tee that had a snake in the center that was covered by thick Cuban link chains. He wore black jeans with cream sneakers, a beautiful diamond bezel watch, and the star of the show was his handsome face. Bijou gazed into his slanted amber eyes trying to find what lay beneath them.

“I can't figure you out,” she expressed lowly.

Lyfe chuckled. He licked his lips as he stretched out his tall body and relaxed in the seat.

“Me? You leave town unexpectedly then come back years later but only for a minute and you can't figure me out? Yeah, okay. Tell me what's been going on with your life Bijou.”

Like a video playing Bijou remembered the blood, the knife, her hands shaking. Even the stench of the blood and her skin crawled. She closed her eyes as her breathing grew shallow.

“You good?”

Bijou took deep calming breaths as she remembered the cops, the cries, and the pain. She remembered how bad it felt to be locked up. Caged like an animal for doing what the police couldn’t do.

Hell, what they refused to do. It had to be done so she did it with no remorse. However, playing God had come at a cost and she was now paying the price.

A hefty one at that.

“Yes, I am,” she sputtered opening her eyes. “Sometimes my anxiety gets the best of me.”

Lyfe peered her way intently and she wanted to look away. She felt like he could see right through her. Almost as if he stared long enough he’d see all her lies. The things she’d done and what she was still doing, and it made her uneasy.

“You scare me,” she smiled but was telling the absolute truth.

Bijou was terrified to be in his presence too long. He made her long for things that she could never have.

“Why is that?” he asked stroking his waves.

She shrugged wondering why he had to be so damn kingly with his shit.

“You just do. I don’t know, I know I’m being weird,” she shrugged. “But life has been different. I worked at a hospital before coming up here. I’ma nurse.”

Lyfe’s eyes lifted in surprise.
